Here is some advice from another child who has been to Headspace Guildford and worked with Ellie.
‘Before coming to Headspace Guildford I was really nervous because I didn’t know what to expect. My Mum and Dad really wanted me to go, but I wasn’t so sure. But after my first visit I couldn’t wait to come back and play more fun games with Ellie. I really loved building a den with her in one of my first sessions! Ellie is great at listening and always had helpful answers about the way I was feeling. She taught me that there is no need to be embarrassed about how you feel or for being you! It is okay to cry or to be sacred and to show those feelings. Ellie wants to help you, so they more you tell her, the more she can help you. The sessions take up time but they are really worth it and it never feels like a chore. There is no need to worry. Going to see Ellie was really exciting and although you might be scared at first, it will get better.’
Lots of people feel nervous before they first come. Sometimes they hide in the waiting room, or since we’ve been working virtually, hide out of sight of the camera. That’s ok. We’ve got the time to get to know you, find out what you like to do and more about you and think about how we can be fun and helpful.
Give us a try and you may find it’s worth it!
